The world isn’t all smooth sidewalks and perfect pathways. Sometimes, you’re going to be challenged with rough terrain and a less than even riding surface. Not all mobility scooters will cope with this, but the EV Rider Vita Monster is more than equipped for those off-road adventures.
EV Rider Vita Monster S12X Mobility Scooter Specs
Comfort
If you’re planning on taking your mobility scooter to places others would dare, then the last thing you want is to feel uncomfortable. Fortunately, the Vita Monster has some handsome comfort features that will give you a luxurious feeling ride.
Seat
The seat on the Vita Monster is 20 inches in width. This is a generous size and works well with the weight capacity of this scooter, but more on that later.
What we love is that the captain’s style seat is fully adjustable, so you can get into a position that feels good for you. Moreover, there is an adjustable headrest, so if you’re spending long hours on the scooter, you’ve got that additional support.
Speaking of support, there’s also a fully adjustable pair of armrests, which give you that extra support from the sides. When getting on and off the scooter, they’ll also flip out of the way to make things easier.
In terms of something that’s got sturdy and reliable support as well as feeling ultra-comfortable, the seat on the Vita Monster is it. If everything we’ve already mentioned wasn’t enough, there’s also six inches of seat padding for that luxurious feel we talked about.
Legroom
The Vita Monster has around 13 inches of legroom between you and the tiller. This isn’t the largest amount of space, but it certainly isn’t something that’s going to make you feel overly confined.
Storage
There isn’t any onboard storage with the Vita Monster, which is a little disappointing since this is a long-range scooter. For example, if you’re headed off on a day out, the scooter would easily see you through, but you’re lacking in storage space.
That said, the scooter does come with a handy arm bag which is ideal for taking your essential items. What’s more, there is a built-in cup holder, so you won’t need to worry about having to hold your drink on the go.
In terms of actually storing your scooter, you’ll be pleased to learn that the Vita Monster comes with a waterproof cover, so it’ll stay dry and protected when not in use.
Weight Capacity
As we discussed earlier, the Vita Monster has a decent-sized seat in relation to its weight capacity. This heavy-duty scooter can carry up to 350lbs which is markedly more than some other scooters. This should comfortably and safely seat most adults and have plenty of room so you don’t feel cramped up.
Controls & Tiller
We believe it is incredibly important to take a close look at the tiller and controls on your mobility scooter before committing to anything. For some people, there is a need for simpler controls that are easy to use, especially if dexterity is an issue. The Vita Monster caters to a range of needs in this area.
Tiller
The Vita Monster benefits from a delta tiller which is far better for those with limited dexterity, so we’re already off to a great start. What’s more, just like the seat, you can adjust the tiller to an angle that allows easy reach for the user.
Controls
The controls on the tiller are incredibly easy to understand and use. There are a range of large buttons, clearly marked so you’ll get to grips with how to use the scooter almost immediately.
Even better, the large LCD screen is backlit for use in low light or for those with poor vision. It features a comprehensive display including your speed, temperature, battery life, and much more. There is no doubt that this is one of the most technologically advanced scooters on the market today and just looking at the display demonstrates this perfectly.
Portability
The Vita Monster is a mobility scooter designed for off-road adventures. It is not a scooter that’s intended for travel. The scooter does not come apart, and it cannot be dismantled. If you’re looking for something that you can set up and hop on whenever the moment calls for it, then this is ideal. But for travel, you might be better off looking at something less bulky and more lightweight.
The overall weight of the Vita Monster is 330lbs which is going to be very difficult to load into the back of a van, for example, unless you have a ramp.
But this isn’t a bad thing. For starters, that heavy weight shows just how durable and robust the Vita Monster is, which is exactly what you want out of an off-road scooter.
Maneuverability
Being easily able to move your scooter around is essential. While the Vita Monster isn’t ideal for indoor use, it’ll get you around outdoors with no issues whatsoever.
Turning Radius
If you’re looking for a mobility scooter that allows you to move around easily in tight spaces then the Vita Monster might not be for you. It has a turning radius of 53 inches which is relatively large compared to some of the compact scooters. But then, that’s not what the Monster is designed for.
Ground Clearance
The Vita Monster is intended for rugged outdoor use and so it’s no surprise that it comes with a generous four-inch ground clearance. When you’re moving over uneven ground, grass, and other types of terrain, you won’t need to worry about the scooter getting caught on anything.
Tires
The tires on the Vita Monster are something really worth getting excited about. They’re rugged, robust, and ready for anything. If you thought you’d seen it all with mobility scooter tires then think again!
The Vita Monster benefits from four pneumatic tires; 6.3 inches at the front and larger 15-inch tires at the back. This design gives you greater stability and the air-filled tires mean a smoother ride over bumpy ground. Yes, there is a risk of getting a flat but you’d really struggle to use solid tires when going off-road, it would just feel incredibly bumpy.
The tires have some of the best traction we’ve ever seen on a mobility scooter. The deep tread ensures maximum grip on the ground on a variety of surfaces; you won’t even feel unstable. Add this to the super wide design on the tires, and you’ve got something that’ll make off-roading feel like a breeze.
Suspension
Another thing that makes the Vita Monster perfect for off-road adventures is the dual suspension. You have double A-arm suspension in the front and post-shock absorbers in the back. So no matter where you take your scooter, you’ll have a smooth and bump-free ride.
However, we should point out that, while this is a scooter you can take almost anywhere, the manufacturer suggests not using it on loose ground such as sand, snow, or loose dirt.
Operating Range
If you’re heading off for the day, then you’ll need to feel confident that your mobility scooter isn’t going to give up halfway through your adventure. The great news is that the Vita Monster will take you up to 28 miles on a single charge with speeds that get up to 11.5 miles per hour.
It’ll take between 8 and 10 hours to fully charge the scooter, meaning you can refill the battery overnight and have more than enough range to see you through the following day.
Running on a 900-watt motor and a 74aH battery, you can feel confident that the Vita Monster is one of the most supremely powerful scooters out there.
Safety Features
The EV Rider Vita Monster S12X mobility scooter has a range of safety features including:
- Rear view mirrors – Being able to see what’s behind you is a must so the double rear view mirrors are a welcome feature on the Vita Monster.
- Front and rear turn signals – Just like when you’re in a car, an accident could happen if you turn unexpectedly. But the Vita Monster is kitted out with front and rear turn signals making your experience and that of others, much safer.
- LED headlights – When you’re using your mobility scooter in low light, the LED headlights will help to illuminate your way and warn others of your presence.
- Anti-tip rear wheels – If you’re moving over rough terrain or going up ramps, there is a risk of your scooter tipping backwards. But that won’t be a problem when using the Monster since it’s fitted with anti-tip rear wheels.
What We Like
One of the things that really stood out to us about the Vita Monster was the seat. In terms of comfort, you won’t get much better than this. Not only is it super padded, fully adjustable, and incredibly supportive, the whole thing is reinforced for maximum sturdiness.
The Vita Monster boasts a stylish design that doesn’t feel like your typical mobility scooter. If you want something that looks sportier than it does medical, this is well worth considering. What’s more, it comes with some handy extras such as the cover and arm bag.
For users who find mobility scooter controls a little difficult, that won’t be the case with the Monster. With a fully adjustable tiller and easy-to-see and use buttons, you’ll feel more in control of your vehicle. Plus, there are loads of safety features that give you an extra boost of confidence.
For off-roading, the high traction and wide tires provide the perfect base. Couple this with the dual suspension and long range, and you’ve got a scooter that’s ready for action.
What We Didn’t Like
For its intended purpose, there isn’t much about the Vita Monster to complain about. We would have liked to have seen a little additional storage space as it only comes with an arm bag. While this would be enough for your everyday essentials, if you’re off on a day out, you might need something a little larger.
It’s also worth pointing out that this scooter isn’t suitable for travel. It features a large, non-collapsible design that is incredibly heavy. Using this for air or rail travel just won’t work out, and unless you have a ramp and a large vehicle, you’d struggle to take it on the road.
Round-Up Review
There are a lot of things we loved about the EV Rider Vita Monster. This is, without a doubt, one of the most powerful and innovative scooters on the market today. If you need something that’ll allow you to explore the world without limitation, then we would highly recommend the Vita Monster.
The range is excellent, and the scooter is beautifully easy to use. While it’s not going to work well for vacations or travel, the Vita Monster excels for heavy-duty, everyday use, especially where the terrain isn’t the most forgiving.
