Seat Comfort
The Pride Jazzy 614HD is a wheelchair designed for the larger user hence why it has a generous weight capacity of 450lbs. However, owing to this, there must be an adequately sized seat and what’s great about this wheelchair is that it can be adjusted. The seat has a maximum width of 24 inches, but it can be altered to suit the user. This means that you’ll be able to benefit from full support without feeling restricted.
What’s more, the seat is heavily padded, which is essential for long-term wheelchair users who may be prone to pressure sores. This heavy padding will also absorb a degree of shock, making the ride much smoother.
You’ll also notice that the seat features a wipe-clean cover making this a super easy wheelchair to maintain and keep hygienic.
Adjustability
When looking at the number of adjustments a wheelchair has, you need to think about your comfort needs. Each user is different but what we love about the Pride Jazzy 614HD is that it has a whole host of adjustment features so that you can tailor the seat exactly to your liking.

One of the things that lets the Pride Jazzy 614HD down slightly is that there isn’t as much storage as you might find on other wheelchairs. There aren’t any cup holders or swing-out compartments but there is a pocket on the back of the seat where you can keep a few small items. That said, this isn’t very secure so we wouldn’t suggest keeping valuables in here.
Controls & Operation
If you are looking for a powered wheelchair that offers excellent ease of use then you’ll find what you’re looking for with the Pride Jazzy 614HD. It benefits from a super easy control system consisting of a joystick, an on button, and three other buttons for turn signals and the horn. However, we should point out that these buttons are relatively small and so may not be suitable for users with impaired dexterity.
What’s great is that you can choose to have the control panel mounted on either the right or left armrest, which makes it easier for all types of users. Furthermore, there is a lever below the seat that provides easy access for putting the wheelchair in neutral, should you need to.
We were also very impressed by the battery compartment which is located at the rear of the wheelchair. It’s easy to get into and requires no tools, so servicing and maintaining the wheelchair is a cinch. Moreover, the charge port for the batteries is located just below the joystick, so you won’t need to bend down every time you want to charge.
Portability
The Pride Jazzy 614HD is not a wheelchair that is designed for transportation so it doesn’t come apart. This makes it difficult for people who are frequent fliers or who rely on a car or van to get from one place to another. That said, if you have space in the back of a larger vehicle, there is nothing preventing you from installing a wheelchair lift to safely get the Pride Jazzy 614HD into your car.
Manoeuvrability
Drive System
One of the major selling points of the Pride Jazzy 614HD is that it boasts mid-wheel drive, which is hugely more stable for people who will be using the wheelchair on a variety of terrain types. Tires
The Pride Jazzy 614HD features two sets of castor wheels at the front and rear which boost the stability significantly. In the center, you’ll find the powered wheels which benefit from solid 14-inch tires. This design means that you won’t need to worry about punctures, and it will give you good stability. These tires are also non-marking making the wheelchair safe for indoor use. However, it is worth keeping in mind that a solid tire will not absorb impacts as well as a pneumatic tire would, so you’ll find that the ride is not quite as smooth.
The tires also benefit from an Active-Trac ATX spring suspension system. So, while the design of the tires might not provide you with much shock absorbency, this excellent feature will counteract that problem quite well.
Ground Clearance
The ground clearance of the Pride Jazzy 614HD is 2.25 inches which makes it suitable for a good range of terrain types. It won’t get stuck easily on surfaces like grass, sand, or gravel, but if there are significant bumps in the road, you may struggle slightly. But this would typically be when in a seriously off-road situation. For the most part, this is a very versatile piece of equipment.
Turning Radius
Back to that compact turning radius; the Pride Jazzy 614HD turns on the spot within just 22.75 inches, making it one of the smallest turning radiuses out there. This is super important when using the wheelchair indoors as it will allow you to move in more confined spaces. What’s more, since the Pride Jazzy 614HD only has a width of 25.5 inches, it’ll move through doorways with great ease.
Driving Range
For anyone who is looking for a powered wheelchair that will allow them to live their life without interruption, the Pride Jazzy 614HD is a great option. It has a maximum driving range of 11 miles per charge which is a decent amount and will allow you to go about your day in great freedom.
With a maximum speed of 4.25mph, you will be able to get from place to place quickly while keeping up with any friends or family who are on foot.
Safety Features

One of the things that we like about the Pride Jazzy 614HD is that it’s safe in terms of the battery. When you plug it in, the battery will charge but will stop charging when it reaches capacity, so there is no danger of overcharging, which could damage your battery or shorten its life.
Moreover, the Pride Jazzy 614HD is fitted with a safety belt to keep you secure as you move around in the chair. Of course, the anti-tip castors at the front and rear of the chair will improve stability hugely, but these can be raised and lowered for convenience, although you should have all six wheels on the floor when moving.
What We Like
It cannot evade the attention that the Pride Jazzy 614HD is a superbly comfortable wheelchair with some excellent adjustments that allow the user to tailor the seat to their own needs. Of course, the generous weight capacity is also a major selling point and certainly caught our attention.
We also love that the Pride Jazzy 614HD is incredibly stable even when you’re using it on more challenging ground. While we wouldn’t call it an off-road wheelchair, it’s certainly got enough about it to navigate most of the terrain types you will encounter in your day-to-day activities. You’ll feel stable and in control plus the compact turning radius makes this the ideal wheelchair for indoor and outdoor use.
What We Didn’t Like
There isn’t a lot that the Pride Jazzy 614HD can’t do, and if you’re in the market for a bariatric wheelchair with ultimate stability, then we would highly recommend this product. However, much like anything, there are a couple of minor downsides that you may wish to consider.
We didn’t like the fact that storage on the Pride Jazzy 614HD is limited to just one small rear pocket with no security. This might prove to be inconvenient for lots of users since you’ll have to carry an additional bag.
Furthermore, we found that a lot of users were reporting that the Pride Jazzy 614HD struggles a bit when scaling an incline. If you’re going to be tackling a lot of steep slopes, then you may find that this wheelchair doesn’t have enough traction to grip and get up with ease.
